I have two children in the new Youth and Children's program in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We are excited for the simplicity of the program and the very personal aspect of it's design. The youth have been given four areas of focus to plan goals for themselves (with the encouragement of parents and family). They are asked to pray about what they should do and listen for inspiration as they make the decisions on what goals to make for themselves.
Since the program has been announced my husband and I have been surprised at how many people are over-complicating the program. Either they are confused by how it is to run, overwhelmed by the changes, or in some other way making it more than it needs to be for the youth and children. We have worked with our children on setting goals but after a few months of thinking about and planning what for our children, we realized that we wanted to run the program as a family too. Not only will it help us align our whole family to the same program but it will also help us as parents to pattern the program for our children. Children learn so much just from watching! So we have decided to Go & Do - just as the program's theme encourages the youth and children. We have set our goals for the next few months and are excited to work as a family on new fun things!
I created these simple printables for the program and wanted to share them with you all. You can download them right here for free. There are three variations - one without lines for kids who want to draw, one with wide rule lines for newer writers, and one with smaller lines for older children and youth writers.
